Frequently Asked Questions
Is Loop couples therapy?
No. Loop is a coaching tool. We're not licensed therapists. If you're in crisis, please see a therapist or call 988.
What does Loop actually do?
You tell it what just happened in one sentence. It names the recurring pattern (the 'cycle') you're stuck in, and gives you the exact next sentence to say to break out of it.
How can an AI possibly understand my relationship?
It doesn't understand your love story. It understands fight patterns. Loop is trained on 30 years of research that shows most couples get stuck in one of about 7 recurring cycles. It's not magic; it's pattern-matching.
What are these 'cycles' you keep talking about?
Patterns documented across 30 years of Emotionally Focused Therapy research. The most common: pursuer-withdrawer, find-the-bad-guy, parent-child, freeze-and-flee, criticize-defend, control-rebel, blame-blame.
Does my partner have to use it?
No. Loop works with one person. Sharing it with your partner makes it more useful — but it's not required.
Will Loop tell me my partner is wrong?
No. We deliberately don't. Every cycle is something both partners are caught in — naming it as 'we' instead of 'you vs. me' is the entire point.
What if I just want to vent?
That's fine, but Loop is built for breaking patterns, not venting. Use a journal app for venting. Use Loop when you want to actually change something.
Is my data private?
Yes. Conversations are encrypted at rest. We never train models on your data. We never share with your partner unless you explicitly send something.
How is Loop different from Paired?
Paired sends you a daily relationship question. Loop sits with you when you've just had a fight, names the pattern, and gives you the next sentence. Different jobs.
How is Loop different from Lasting?
Lasting is a library of pre-recorded therapy modules. You watch and learn. Loop is reactive — you tell it what just happened and it responds to your fight.
What if Loop gets the cycle wrong?
You can correct it. Every reading comes with 'this isn't quite right' — and the more you correct, the better the matching gets for your relationship specifically.
